From Zaakol to Blackmail, The illustrious career of Urmila Matondkar

Born in Mumbai on 4th February 1974, Urmila has been a hard working girl ever since her childhood. She earned a degree in philosophy from the Pune University. She loves reading and is an avid swimmer too. Her journey in Bollywood has been quite an interesting. Let’s check her story here:

Urmila started her career in films as a child artist where she played a minor role in the Marathi film called ‘Zaakol’ in 1980, followed by a Bollywood drama film ‘Kalyug’.

She made her official Bollywood debut with the film ‘Narsimha’ and in 1989, she signed a film with Shah Rukh Khan called ‘Chamatkar’.

She received a lot of offers post that and worked with almost all the best actors not only in Bollywood but also in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam cinema.

Her most notable performances are Jaanam Samjha Karo, Dillagi, and Hum Tum Pe Marte Hain. With Rangeela and Pyar Tune Kya Kiya, she proved her abilities and redefined Bollywood films of the generation.

She’s worked in a lot of award-winning films with Ram Gopal Verma and Kamal Haasan. In 1998, she left us all speechless with her performance in the film ‘Satya’.

She’s won awards across categories including ‘Most Sensational Actress’ for ‘Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya’ and the ‘Best Actress’ award for her roles in ‘Bhoot’ and ‘Maine Gandhi Ko Nahin Mara’.

Urmila married Kashmir-based businessman and model Mohsin Akhtar Mir in a private ceremony on 3rd March 2016 and lives with her husband happily now.
