Both Kabhi Kabhie and Dum Laga Ke Haisha are films about mismatched couples who get along and fall in love eventually. From “Kabhie kabhie mere dil mein khayaal aata hai” to “Moh Moh Ke Dhaage,” there’s something exclusively dreamy about all YRF films and its music. Obviously, take after its legendary filmmakers who love, love!
The poet Sahir Ludhianvi’s poetry was a complete narrative of Rakhee Gulzar’s beauty and he would only allow Yashji to use his poetry in the film if it was for Rakhee.
Rakhee had quit Bollywood when she married Gulzar. It was Yashji, her neighbour, who offered her this film, convincing her for this special character. Yashji even confessed that he’d drop the entire project if Rakhee wouldn’t say a yes.
“One day in the presence of Amitabh Bachchan, they played a song and Pam said that this song is for Raakhee. That's how Kabhie Kabhie was offered to me” said Rakhee in an interview.
During the entire shoot schedule of this classic film, Yashji was very particular about certain things. Like he wanted Rakhee to wear a shaadi ka joda exactly like the one worn by singer Mukesh's daughter during her wedding. And since he was enamoured of femininity, he was very precise about his picks for women.
The entire film was a collaboration of fabled actors unified for Yash Chopra and his strong belief in love.
Dum Laga Ke Haisha is yet another film that celebrates complexities of life and cherishes love. This film revolves around a school dropout, Prem, who hesitantly marries an educated but overweight girl, Sandhya.
The entire film beautifully narrates the journey of this unusual couple, entertaining us with moments that are both real & undeniably sweet.
This film introduced and focused on a new story and enlightened the audience with a new wave of fresh air.
This sweet little family drama, which is hilarious, poignant, and uplifting, delighted us all to go and experience the life of the individuals played by Ayushmann Khurrana and Bhumi Pednekar.
Bhumi also shared a video, remembering the film that was very special for her.
