As Bollywood diva Katrina Kaif celebrates her birthday on 16th July, we take a look at her fitness journey and foray into Bollywood that has her at the top of the game at every stage.
Katrina Kaif was born in Hong Kong as Katrina Turquotte to parents Mohammed Kaif and Suzanne Turquotte. She is one of 8 siblings and hails from Britain, England.

Looking fit was nothing new for Katrina as she started out as a model at the young age of 14 with photographer Atul Kasbekar. She received several campaigns from leading industry brands that had her travelling around the world.

She got her first break in Bollywood with ‘Boom’ in 2003. A few hits and misses followed but soon Kaif started to get noticed, not just for her movies but her personal fitness levels and looks. Be it an item song or an action movie, her well-defined abs and toned body brought a lot of admiration her way and inspired many to fitness rather than just being slim.

Her ageless body and clear skin are often credited to her being a health freak. Katrina is known to workout everyday as well as pay a lot of attention to her diet on a regular basis. At a time where celebrities are known to use extreme diet and workout measures for a particular role or event, Katrina focuses on routines to enhance her strength and stamina and focus on her health first.

Her workout routine consists of a varied mix and includes everything from yoga, Pilates, cardio, swimming and weight training among others. In addition, she also does a lot of strength training and core building activities such as Kettlebells, Medicine Balls, weight training and a lot more.

Not limited to a particular routine, Kaif believes in working different muscle groups with different exercises that help her challenge her body and strengthen it. She is a firm believer in listening to the body when planning a workout. In addition, Kaif’s body is a result of consistency as the actress is known to workout out daily for at least 1 hour!
Her foray into fitness was supported by fitness expert Yasmin Karachiwala who has developed several workout routines for her while also helping her plan a healthy diet. One of the biggest reasons for Katrina’s amazing fitness level is her ability to take on any workout with a positive and open attitude. She is known to tackle several challenging workouts which may even have some of her younger peers shy away.

It is said that abs are made more in the kitchen than in the gym and Kaif is a testament to this statement. A conscious eater, she is very careful about her intake. Daily meals are a balanced mix of healthy foods that include oats, eggs, salads, soups and protein in the form of fish or lean meat. She believes in nourishment over indulgence.

However, even Kaif understands the value of a cheat day. While she doesn’t overdo on calorie-rich or indulgent foods, she does take a break from her daily diet to find alternative solutions to satiate her cravings!

What makes her such a phenomenal fitness inspiration is that she often shares with fans her easy and practical tips to boost fitness levels. These include adaptable tips such as avoiding fried and preserved food, consuming more water and exercising regularly. Along with her body, her fitness routines and diet also give her skin a gorgeous and radiant glow!
