Why 2018 was the year of Sports?

2018 has been an eventful year with so many sports events and wedding taking place throughout the year. Be it the Commonwealth Games or the Cricket World Cup, we’ve got home a lot of medals and trophies and we’re extremely proud of it. Here’s why we think it was a year dedicated to sports:
 

1. U-19 Cricket World Cup

Without a doubt, we can say that the U-19 team is a strong competitor. They suppressed Pakistan, scoring a whopping 203 runs to reach the finals. India also beat Australia in the finale by 8 wickets, winning the title of Champions by the team led by Manjot Kalra

2. 2018 Blind Cricket World Cup

It was one of those best matches where India was competing against Pakistan in the finals after beating 4 other teams. The entire nation went bonkers when the Indian team won the match by 2 wickets defeating Pakistan to become the World Champions, 2nd time in a row

3. Asian Games 2018

In the Asian Games 2018, India finished 8th with a total of 69 medals, with a count of 15 gold,24 silver and 30 bronze in Jakarta. The players were a delight to watch, we must say!

4. Commonwealth Games 2018

In this year’s Commonwealth Games, India proudly stood third with 66 medals out of which 26 were gold. This years representation was the best after 2010. Such a phenomenon performance by all indeed

5. Asia Cup

During the Asia Cup, Women’s team of Cricket won almost all the tournaments standing atop in the group stage. The Women’s team also beat Bangladesh in the Kuala Lumpur match lifting their World champion title. On the other hand, the Men’s team led by Rohit Sharma got the trophy home in the 14th edition held in UAE

6. Hockey World Cup 2018

Both Men’s and Women’s Hockey World Cup gained a lot of praise for their performance during the World Cup. Women’s teamed scored really well and finished 8th in the tournament. Men, on the other hand, started off really well beating South Africa and Canada

7. Women’s World T20

The Women’s Cricket team led by Harmanpreet Kaur, India gained 8 points extra, beating Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan and Ireland. Such a proud moment for the entire nation it was!
