The Bollywood fan following has been known to showcase their love and admiration toward their favourite celebrity in a myriad of ways. While some fans write letters to their favourite celebs, some diligently follow their every activity on social media, and some make extraordinary gestures that leave everyone stunned. It is safe to say that Bollywood celebrities are not new to being mobbed by crazy fans to an extent where, for some of them, the line between admiration and obsession is blurred.

Hunger strike
The country reels under the charms of Sallu Bhai, making him one of the actors to have the highest fan following in Bollywood. When his movies release in the theatres it is almost as if the country is celebrating a festival. However, the Salman Khan fan following can go a little overboard at times. A self-professed follower of Salman, Maulik Babubhai took things to a completely new level where he went on a hunger strike in Rajkot. The location was where the actor was filming one of his latest releases. Babubhai insisted he wouldn’t consume food unless he was allowed to click a picture with Salman Khan.
Attempted suicide
In the list of top 10 Bollywood actors with the highest fan following, Rajinikanth is ruling the roost. It is safe to call him a religion of sorts by looking at the levels of devotion his fans showcase toward him. In 2011, the actor was undergoing dialysis in Singapore. An ardent fan, devastated by his idol’s condition, popped sleeping pills so he could help the actor by donating his kidney. Thankfully, the fan was rushed to a hospital and his life was saved.
A temple
Amitabh Bachchan is considered to be the highest fan following actor in Bollywood. This megastar is a sensation across the globe, for people across several generations. The actor was in for a pleasant surprise one fine day when a fan in Mumbai drove to his house, Jalsa. The man was a samosa vendor, and he drove a truck filled with samosas to Bachchan’s home so the actor could bless the truck of snacks. This fan later wanted to distribute the samosas to Amitabh’s fans as ‘prasad’ or blessed offering. The senior actor also has a place of worship named after him, where fans or his ‘devotees’ offer prayers in his name. The temple houses a centrepiece that consists of a pair of shoes that the actor wore in the movie, Agneepath. These shoes are placed atop a throne which is also a movie prop from one of Bachchan’s movies. The fans also chant a special mantra that has been worded by them called ‘Jai Shri Amitabh’.
Letter in blood
Aditya Roy Kapoor is a heartthrob amongst the youth, who are fanatics of Bollywood. When the actor was shooting for a movie called Fitoor in the beautiful valley of Kashmir, he was informed of a rather crazy gift from a fan. It was a letter written by a fan that surpassed regular fan mail. Written in blood, the letter professed the fan’s love for Kapoor and contained a proposal for marriage
Diamond set as a gift
If there is one fan moment in Kareena Kapoor’s celeb life that can show how obsessed her followers get with her, it is the instance where a fan gifted her jewellery. After spending several years penning letters to this actress, a fan received no response. The unanswered letters drove a fan to give Kareena, a diamond necklace worth at least 40 lakh rupees.
Cycled for miles
A die-hard fan, Kishore Kumar ensured he would do anything to get a glimpse of his favourite actor in person, even if it meant cycling for several hundred kilometres. The fan cycled for 1700km to see actor Aamir Khan. From Ranchi to Mumbai, this man travelled on his bicycle and even spent two whole days and nights in the Khar police station. He refused to move until the actor came and met him, and to his luck, this actor did come and grace him with his presence.
Disguised florist
Fans have been known to cross boundaries because of their inability to see the distinction between love for the stars and their creepy obsession with them. One such incident occurred with popular actress Dia Mirza. A fan disguised himself as a flower seller in order to meet the actress at her home. Stalking the actress for several years was something this fan had done. He went a step further when he disguised himself as a florist and tried entering her house. In the past, the same fan has impersonated a doctor and attempted to propose marriage to Dia Mirza.
Loyalty is everything
Hrithik Roshan is a renowned actor who is known for his charming personality, his killer dance moves, and wonderful acting skills. His fans know he is worth all their love, even if it means having to buy tickets to an entire theatre to show their support. Rahul Raj adores Roshan and oozes loyalty for the actor. He purchased seventy tickets to the movie Mohenjo-Daro for an early morning show, to show his admiration and support for the actor.
