Through the decades, human activities like cutting down trees, using plastic, emission of greenhouse gases, wastage of food and water, etc. have negatively impacted the environment. Plants are wilting, the soil is eroding, glaciers are melting, lakes and wells are drying up, the air that we breathe is dusty and unclean. Take a step towards an eco-friendly lifestyle by cutting down your water usage. Both shower and a bath consume a lot of water. But there are ways you can be mindful regarding water usage. For example, take a shorter shower or install a low-flow showerhead. Refrain from buying packaged drinking water and carry your own water bottle instead. Not to mention that packaged drinking water uses plastic bottles and can negatively impact the environment. Turn off the water tap when not in use, for example, while brushing your teeth.

Why spend money on things that can be easily borrowed? Rent movies, a car, borrow books from libraries or friends and use secondhand goods whenever possible. Borrowing or purchasing second-hand items reduces the number of items that need to be kept in a landfill. Thus, reducing waste and helping the environment. Also, it is a great way to save money. This minuscule eco-living tip can be a large step towards living green.

Refrain from using Private Vehicles

There are many benefits to using public transport instead of a private vehicle. It reduces air pollution by moving people more efficiently. It increases fuel efficiency and reduces traffic congestion on the road. It also makes one physically active since it requires people to take a walk towards the transit stop and final destination. The other option to reduce pollution is carpooling with friends and colleagues. If the workplace, school, college or any destination that is nearby, you can use bicycles too. It is healthier as well as an eco-friendly way to travel.

Practising these three steps every day as an eco-friendly lifestyle habit can help build a healthy and green environment. The end goal of these 3Rs is to educate people on how to prevent excessive and unnecessary waste and also, to minimize the use of non-renewable resources.
