She has been a constant source of joy to Bollywood for many years with her performances and her looks. She’s also an active sportsperson and the owner of the famous Kings XI Punjab IPL team. Born on 31st January 1975 in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, Preity has always been a fast learner and a super talented child since her childhood.
Preity was only thirteen when she lost her father, an army officer, in a car accident. Her mother too was injured severely in this accident. Her mother is an independent woman who took care of Preity.
Zinta completed her graduation in criminal psychology from St. Bedes College. With such a pretty face, Preity aspired to become an actor one day.
She started her glamorous career with modeling in an ad for Liril soap. Looking at her beauty and her acting skills, she was offered her first project ‘Dil Se’ in 1998. Preity also won a Filmfare Sensational Debut Award for this film.
She signed a lot of films post that, including Kya Kehna, Dil Chahta Hai, Veer-Zaara, Koi Mil Gaya, Kal Ho Naa Ho, Salaam Namaste, and Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna to name a few.
Apart from being a super actor, she’s also a lovely human who helped the victims of the 2004 tsunami by performing at HELP and raising money. She also donated Rs 25 lakhs won by her at the game show Kaun Banega Crorepati to the Shimla District Red Cross Society in Himachal Pradesh.
Preity now owns an IPL team ‘Kings XI Punjab’ and is very active there, cheering and motivating her team.
Zinta has won several awards for her performances, like the Filmfare and IIFA. Also, the Star of the Year for her amazing work in Kal Ho Na Ho.
