The Nidahas Trophy 2018 was played in Sri Lanka as a tri-nation series between Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and India. India took home the trophy after they won by 4 wickets against Bangladesh in the finals. With some of the big names rested, some fresh and young faces were handed with an opportunity to prove their mettle. Let’s take a look at the ones who really made an impact whilst winning the trophy.
1. Vijay Shankar
Having just debuted in T20I, this young man has taken 3 wickets in his 5 innings play throughout the tournament. He was named the ‘Man of the match’ in his second international appearance, against Bangladesh after taking a maiden 2 wickets.

2. Washington Sundar
He is the youngest T20I player to have ever bagged a maiden 3-wicket haul. Being named as the ‘Player of the Tournament’ in the Nidahas Trophy series, he is one of the most talented bowlers, excelling in Powerplay.

3. Shardul Thakur
He is famously known for taking 8 wickets against the Saurashtra cricket team during the 2015-16 Ranji Trophy finals. In the recent Nidahas tournament, he came as a blessing when he took his career’s best 4-27, to bring back the game against Sri Lanka in India’s favour. Well-known for his knuckleball technique, this young talent is to look-out for.

4. Rohit Sharma
A well-known batsman and a regular face on the Indian Cricket team; Rohit Sharma took over the captaincy duties for the Nidahas Trophy tournament. Under his captaincy, India won the tournament.

5. Dinesh Karthik
His epic last ball six and 29 runs off 8 balls, helped India win against Bangladesh in the finals of the Nidahas Trophy tournament. Deemed as the ‘Man of the Match’ in the finals, Dinesh Karthik is now ready to face any challenges that come his way.

6. Manish Pandey
He stole the show in the second inning against Sri Lanka by scoring 42 off 31 balls and partnering with Dinesh Karthik to give team India a comfortable win. Manish Pandey is by far one of the best batsmen, having scored 134 runs in 4 innings during the Nidahas Trophy tournament.
