Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke - 1993

Along with his portrayal of a struggling businessman, Aamir Khan also co-wrote the screenplay of his rom-com. One of the best Aamir Khan movies, Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke saw Aamir Khan playing guardian to three children along with being a businessman. Andaz Apna Apna - 1994

Sarfarosh - 1999

Aamir Khan’s portrayal of a no-nonsense police officer for one of his finest written characters, ACP Rathore, was phenomenal. Sarfarosh is one of Aamir Khan’s superhit movies, where his acting skills were on full display. An exceptional cop-drama of Bollywood, it showcased the inner workings of the ISI. As opposed to the popular macho image of the cops portrayed in Bollywood movies, Aamir Khan, in Sarfarosh, did it brilliantly while donning oversized loose shirts and captured the audience completely with his acting.

Dil Chahta Hai - 2001

One of the best Aamir Khan movies, Dil Chahta Hai, made road trips a trend amongst youngsters and Goa a tourist destination. It revolutionised the Indian cinema with its direction, costume designing and dialogues. Much ahead of its time, the critics and distributors were doubtful whether the audience would accept such an ‘urban’ story of Dil Chahta Hai. Lagaan - 2001

The director Ashutosh Gowariker built the whole fictional village of Champaner in a remote village of Gujarat for one of the best Aamir Khan movies, Lagaan. A period movie about a cricket match for freeing the villagers from agricultural tax, it truly portrayed the turmoils and difficulties of farmers during that time. Lagaan also showcased the simple and uncomplex village life to the point. The adrenaline rush that we, as the audience, experienced during the cricket match between the villagers and the Britishers felt all too real. Each character in the movie had their own quirks, but Aamir Khan with his portrayal of the revolutionary and rebel Bhuvan made him an immortal character. With a running time of more than 4 hours, Lagaan never had a dull moment, making it one of Aamir Khan’s superhit movies.

Rang De Basanti - 2006

Supporting him in 3 Idiots, were actors Sharman Joshi and R. Madhavan, who were as convincing as Aamir Khan in the role of college students.
