Mouth-watering films that make us crave for delicious dishes

As we celebrate World Food Day on October 16, let’s talk about food, food, and some more food. Food is an important aspect of celebrating any festival; in fact, food is a celebration in itself. A combination of food and films serves you with the ultimate delight! So, here’s presenting some food-based films that are delicious enough to excite the foodie in you.

1. The Lunchbox

This movie shows how food has a direct connection with our emotions. Nimrat Kaur plays a devout wife who knows that the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. She wants to revive romance in her married life and so she cooks with all her heart. However, a mix-up of the lunchbox gets her connected with Irrfan Khan. The lunchbox acts as a messenger and builds a strong bond between the two.

2. Cheeni Kum

The title means ‘less sugar’, but this movie is indeed one of the sweetest movies on food ever made. Amitabh Bachchan plays a chef in his 60s who owns a leading restaurant in London. Things gets spicy when he falls in love with Tabu’s character who is 30 years younger. He makes several attempts to impress her and her father with his culinary skills. That’s so sweet, isn’t it?

3. Chef

This film brought together two things that create great experiences – food and travel. Saif Ali Khan plays a chef who loses his job in New York. He has a bittersweet relationship with his son and ex-wife who live in Cochin. He plans to spend time with them and begins a new journey with a business venture related to food. Chef is a must-watch for those who are passionate about cooking and like to experiment in the kitchen.

4. Stanley Ka Dabba

Stanley Ka Dabba brings fond memories of days when we enjoyed food from our friends’ tiffin boxes. This is a story about Stanley (Partho Gupte), a fourth-grader and his bunch of friends. Their gluttony teacher punishes Stanley for never bringing his own dabba. The teacher doesn’t know that food is a luxury that many people are deprived of. Watch this movie even if you’re not a foodie – you’ll value food like never before!
