The 14th season of the Indian Premier League was all set to take place in April-May of 2021.

But after 3 weeks and 30 matches later in IPL 2021, it was again postponed to September and the wait to watch the eight teams compete became even longer.

We are almost 2 weeks into the second leg of the Indian Premier League 2021 and it can be said without a doubt it is going to be an epic event to watch! It’s exciting to watch the eight teams, yet again, head to head battle for the IPL trophy. Though it is always a delight to watch the experienced players showcasing their skills and gameplay, it is thrilling to watch the uncapped players rule the cricket pitch in the tournament.

So far, Chennai Super Kings is leading the charts by winning 8 out of the 10 matches played and is so far the best team in IPL 2021. Following them are Delhi Capitals in the 2nd position (8 wins out of 11 matches) and Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 3rd (6 wins out of 10 matches).

The Orange Cap in the Indian Premier League is the award for the top run-getter. It is an award that is juggled around from team to team, one batsman to another, as the IPL tournament progresses

At the end of the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League, the player with the highest number of dismissals will be awarded The Purple Cap. Pakistan left-arm pacer Sohail Tanvir won this award in the 2008 edition of the league, by taking 22 wickets that played a major role in Rajasthan Royals’ victory. The award went to the now-obsolete Deccan Chargers’ troop in the next two seasons - RP Singh (2009) and Pragyan Ojha (2010). Sri Lanka pacer Lasith Malinga, the league’s all-time leading wicket-taker, won the Purple Cap in 2011. Chennai Super Kings’ Dwayne Bravo (2013 and 2015) and Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Bhuvneshwar Kumar (2016 and 2017) are the only bowlers to have won the Purple Cap in two different editions of the league. The then Kings XI Punjab’s Andrew Tye won the award in IPL 2018. Imran Tahir bagged the cap in the 2019 edition, taking 26 wickets. And in the last edition, Kagiso Rabada donned that cap in 2020 with 30 wickets from 17 matches.
