The 14th season of the Indian Premier League was all set to take place in April-May of 2021.
But after 3 weeks and 30 matches later in IPL 2021, it was again postponed to September and the wait to watch the eight teams compete became even longer.
We are almost 2 weeks into the second leg of the Indian Premier League 2021 and it can be said without a doubt it is going to be an epic event to watch! It’s exciting to watch the eight teams, yet again, head to head battle for the IPL trophy. The Orange Cap in the Indian Premier League is the award for the top run-getter. It is an award that is juggled around from team to team, one batsman to another, as the IPL tournament progresses
towards its finals. It will eventually be awarded to the batsman who is the top run-scorer in IPL 2021 at the end of the tournament. It will also determine some of the IPL 2021 top players who are leading the charts with the most runs. Australian batsman Shaun Marsh won the Orange Cap award in the maiden edition of the league and was followed by compatriot Matthew Hayden in the 2009 edition. At the end of the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League, the player with the highest number of dismissals will be awarded The Purple Cap. It will help identify some of the IPL 2021 top players who are showcasing mind-blowing skills with the ball. Pakistan left-arm pacer Sohail Tanvir won this award in the 2008 edition of the league, by taking 22 wickets that played a major role in Rajasthan Royals’ victory. The award went to the now-obsolete Deccan Chargers’ troop in the next two seasons - RP Singh (2009) and Pragyan Ojha (2010). Sri Lanka pacer Lasith Malinga, the league’s all-time leading wicket-taker, won the Purple Cap in 2011. Chennai Super Kings’ Dwayne Bravo (2013 and 2015) and Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Bhuvneshwar Kumar (2016 and 2017) are the only bowlers to have won the Purple Cap in two different editions of the league.
