Indian Special Olympic Contingent opens with 30 splendid golden wins

In the ongoing 2019 Special Olympics in Abu Dhabi, the Indian contingent have been glittering with flying colours, waving the Indian flag high up in the sky, making the entire country proud. The Indian players have won 30 gold, 33 silver and 32 bronze medals so far in the events of skating, table tennis, powerlifting, etc. 
 

A team of about 289 Athletes, 73 Coaches, 1 HOD, 4 Assistant HODs and 11 Assistant Staff from all over the country travelled to Abu Dhabi for this year’s World Summer Games to chase gold across categories!

Manali Manoj Shelke who was a powerlifting participant, failed to lift the bar thrice before she managed to successfully do it after she was motivated enough by our well-trained coach. Such a determined contestant!

Yet another 18-year old champ, Anu Chennekota from Andhra Pradesh after winning the table tennis singles gold said, “The others are bad, I’m good.” Sabita Yadav who won singles gold in division 4 and Sandesh Krishna who won several golds in various divisions in men’s singles have been praised and appreciated a lot too.

On being asked about Table Tennis Sabita said, “My coach Ritesh introduced me to Table Tennis and I used to travel nearly an hour every day to Panjim, Goa to play.” Sabita is a dedicated player agrees her coach. She was initially associated with Basketball. Soon when she realized she likes Table Tennis better, she immediately started practicing TT to become a pro!

These amazing players have been giving their best since Day 1. With such motivated players and much hard work, the troupe managed to acquire 145 medals by the end of Day 3 of the Summer Olympics.
