It’s official; it’s trending; it’s the biggest news of the moment! Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas are taking wedding vows... and everything about this wedding seems WOW! From the elite guest list to the royal venue, this event is surely going to be talked about for months and years to come. It’ll be a spectacle to see the stars descend on the Sun City – Jodhpur. Let’s see what makes Umaid Bhawan Palace the perfect venue for this big fat Indian wedding
Built between 1928 and 1943, the Umaid Bhawan Palace symbolises Rajasthan’s rich heritage. A part of this palace was converted into a heritage hotel in 1971 which is managed by the Taj Group of Hotels. Needless to say, every element of this palace offers luxury with a touch of royalty. Umaid Bhawan is among the last of the great palaces of India. The guests at the wedding will certainly feel like royalty!
The palace is built on Chittar Hill – the highest point in Jodhpur. It overlooks the historic city of Jodhpur, offers a view of the vast sand dunes and the magnificent Mehrangarh Fort. The view, both inside and outside the palace, is a treat to the eyes. The marvellous architecture of the palace and the themed decor is bound to leave everyone spellbound!
Umaid Bhawan Palace is divided into three parts – the private residence of the former royal family, the Taj Umaid Bhawan Palace hotel, and a family museum. It has 347 spacious rooms (including 64 rooms and suites of the hotel) and is set amidst 26 acres of lush gardens. The palace has a great collection of antiques and is equipped with all the modern amenities. It still houses members of the royal family and is known to be the sixth largest private residence in the world!
This royal venue has hosted many star-studded events in the past. From Nita Ambani’s 50th birthday bash to the famous Liz Hurley-Arun Nayar wedding, the palace has created memorable experiences for all. The Umaid Bhawan Palace has another important connection with history. The palace’s construction used the same palm court marble as that used to build the iconic Taj Mahal
