Summer is both a boon and a curse especially when it comes to taking care of your skin and hair. With skincare becoming expensive, yet lucrative day by day it has indeed left us all spoilt for choices. So here are a few simple home remedies with one common ingredient, which is curd, that I rely upon blindly to keep my skin and hair in a state that's close to perfect and sans blemishes. This also saves me from burning a hole in my pocket!

It works like a miraculous skin moisturizer and also helps in improving the texture of your skin. You can include this in your night-time skincare routine too. It's absolutely simple and just a gentle massage with a spoonful of curd will seal the moisture in your skin. All you need to do is leave it on for about 20 mins and rinse it off with water, pat it dry and you end up with. If followed up regularly every alternate day for about a month it will drastically improve the texture of your skin.

Curd also works as an amazing detanning agent and after your summer vacation, you can always get back to your good old curd face pack. Add a pinch of turmeric, besan/gram flour to make a pack of great consistency and a spoon of lemon juice. Leave it on for about 15 mins and rinse your face to reveal a brand new glowy skin. Lock in all the goodness by sealing it by following it by your trusted moisturizer.

Curd also works as a fair hair mask. Mix a cup of curd with the juice of half a lemon and a generous amount of aloe vera gel to get a consistency of a hair mask. Apply it and leave it on for about 30 mins before you shampoo your hair. Definitely the most budget-friendly hair mask on the go. It will also help to tackle itchy scalp and dandruff issue and make your hair softer from the first wash itself and keep scalp infections at bay all throughout summer if used once a week regularly.

Curd can also be used as a scrub. Mix it well with a spoonful of rice flour and curd both. Gently massage it on your skin for about 5 minutes. It will help in removing the dead skin cells and leave you with softer skin.
