Game of Thrones – survival of the fittest

As the wait continues for the last season of Game of Thrones, not only are we desperate to find out how things will unfold especially after the eventful season seven. A series infamous for killing off main characters that has made it scary to pick a favorite character, ‘cause you never know what’s around the corner! Here are some characters with the strength to have made it so far and what we could expect from them in this final epic battle.

1. Daenerys Targaryen

The last season had a lot unfold for the fearless leader with many titles, from her ability to call a truce with Cersei until they resolve the White Walker situation to suffering the great loss of one of dragons to the Night King. In the much-awaited last season, fans look for answers to her budding romance with Jon (especially with Jon’s lineage finally discovered), the fight against the Night King and her claim to the Iron throne.

2. Jon Snow

With the secret of Jon’s lineage finally out of the bag, it makes him the strongest contender for the Iron Throne. Fans are predicting a shocking result at the end of the HBO series with many believing either Jon or Daenerys to be revealed to be Azor Ahai – the Prince that was Promised to save them from the Night King’s undead army.

3. Tyrion Lannister

Daenerys’ most trusted advisor and the Queen’s Hand seems to have something up his sleeve, from his ominous look as he watched Jon enter Daenerys chamber to his ability to call a (pseudo) truce with Cersei. He has proved his loyalty and earned his place as Dany’s advisor, but against let’s not forget his cunning nature. We can see him playing a vital role in the last and final season as the fight for the throne gets more serious.

4. Cersei Lannister

Broken over the loss of her children but not defeated, Cersei Lannister remains the series biggest baddest wolf in the series(Possibly worst than the Night King and his army). In her thirst for power and the Iron Throne, we watched Cersei lose herself and her family, including Jamie. While everyone prepares to fight the threat of the Night King, Cersei seems to be building a new army to probably take over the North and strengthen her hold over the realms.

5. Jamie Lannister

Game of Thrones season seven left off with Jamie finally seeing the truth of sister and lover Cersei Lannister. After his fall out with her, he is seen riding away from King’s Landing after almost losing his head at the hands of the Mountain. We assume he is headed towards Dany to help fight off the White Walkers and defend the kingdoms. Though he may not always agree with Cersei, this will be the first time he has stood his ground against her. Let’s see how far he gets!

6. Sansa Stark

While season seven had Jon leaving Winterfell to meet Daenerys and gain the use of her dragons, this left his fractured army not happy with him. In his absence Sansa took over for her brother as the lady of Winterfell whilst gaining her the favor among the northern lords. With Jon declaring his allegiance to Dany and his return to the North, will her empowered status result in Jon being overthrown or be an obstacle.

7. Arya Stark

We have seen the younger Stark grow exponentially from the mischievous yet sweet child in season one, the scenarios that unfolded brought out a side in Arya that made her recognize her survival instincts. Through the many seasons, we have seen a brutal side to her in her quest for revenge, though last season, we saw a softer side come back to life as she was rejoined with her siblings at Winterfell.
