Five New Year’s resolutions you should never make

If New Year’s Eve is around the corner, can the resolutions be far behind? Let’s be honest, how many of us actually stick to our long list of New Year’s resolutions? A few weeks or months is all it takes for us to go back to our old habits.
Don’t get us wrong. We are all for making resolutions (and sticking to them). But, if only keeping resolutions were as easy as making them! Here’s our list of the most common resolutions that are almost impossible to stick to

1. To lose weight

Ah, the evergreen resolution that we all love to make year after year – weight loss. We’d like to call it ‘the eternal quest of weight loss.’ Many of us know the right lifestyle matters more than a fad diet to lose that weight. But do we actually get around to sticking to it for most part of the year? We wish you luck in this quest!

2. To quit smoking or drink less

Health is wealth, as the old saying goes. And for many, that means snuffing that cigarette out or kicking the bottle. But even statutory warnings about the dangers of smoking and drinking alcohol haven’t managed to do the trick yet. Though easier said than done, we hope this is one resolution you can follow through

3. To save (more) money

Paying off debts, improving finances and saving for retirement. Yes, these are important resolutions indeed. If only we’d know where to start. Of course, there are financial advisors who can help achieve this goal. But, don’t we already know that?

4. To learn a new skill

We all want to learn something new. Perhaps a skill to land that dream job you’ve been eying or a hobby. The problem is, we convince ourselves that an old dog can’t be taught new tricks. However, it’s never too late to learn something new. Still keen on giving it a go?

5. To manage stress better

“Meditate, sleep well or take deep breaths to manage stress levels.” It sounds easy enough, doesn’t it? Just that, it’s no different from achieving nirvana. This is one resolution that we really need to stick to for the rest of our lives. So what’s stopping us?
