Directed by SS Rajamouli, the movie’s leading actors, Prabhas and Rana Daggubati were highly commended on their acting talent. The movie made a whopping Rs. 501 crore at the box-office making it India’s magnum opus.

2. Dangal

When Mr Perfectionist, Aamir Khan, releases his occasional movie, most of the times it is assumed to be among the top grossing movies in Bollywood, and Dangal didn’t disappoint. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, this movie draws from the true inspirational tale of one girl taking on the male-dominated wrestling world with her father leading the way. The movie had several moments that the audiences could identify with.

We saw Mahavir Singh Phogat give up his dream of winning an Olympic Gold at wrestling in order to do the sensible thing and earn for his family by taking up a job. This dream however continues to burn, and when he realises that his daughters have the same fire in them, he decides to train them to continue the dream. Filled with passion, dedication and the politics of the world, this gripping and inspirational tale became a global phenomenon netting Rs. 387 crores at the box-office.

What do you get when you combine the eternal Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar in a sci-fi sequel? One of the highest grossing Bollywood movies of all time! With stunning visual effects that left the audience gasping and high-class acting, the movie made a massive Rs 519 crore at the box-office. While the script detailing the fight between an android and ornithologist may not have appealed to everyone, the overall effects of the movie held most people spellbound.

4. Tiger Zinda Hai

Salman Khan’s ability to bring in audiences by the droves is unparalleled. His ability to carry out some of the toughest action sequences as easily as a heart-warming romantic scene or even providing some comic relief make him an absolute Bollywood favourite. In this sequel to Ek Tha Tiger, Salman Khan reprises his role as the ultimate good guy and action star to take on terrorists. An action-packed film with Katrina Kaif playing an agent extremely well, this movie is an out and out entertainer. Directed by Ali Abbas Zaffar, the movie collected about Rs 339 crore at the box-office to get listed among the top grossing movies in Bollywood.

5. Sanju

A film based on Bollywood’s very own star – Sanjay Dutt, Sanju took the audiences into the roller coaster life of the actor behind the camera. Portrayed spectacularly by Ranbir Kapoor, the movie is essentially a tale of redemption by someone looking to right their wrongs. Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, the movie had audiences experiencing several emotions ranging from laughter to tears. The biopic had not only a great story but also phenomenal acting and direction making it one of the highest grossing Bollywood movies of all time at a box-office collection of Rs 341 crores.

6. War

Action, drama, great music and an intricate cat-and-mouse tale that leaves the audience guessing, War is the perfect masala movie for everyone. Along with getting two of Bollywood’s most good-looking and talented actors together, the movie was backed by a great script and exceptional music. Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the film starred Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff in a gripping tale of two people looking to outdo the other. With fans of both the actors and critics praising the movie and performances, it is no surprise that War is among the highest grosser Indian movies.

Looking at human behaviours from a fresh perspective is always refreshing and that’s what Rajkumar Hirani’s PK strived to do. The movie is based upon the observations of an alien (Aamir Khan) when he gets stranded on Earth. The movie offered several fresh perspectives on what taken-for-granted behaviours are and even questioned the reasoning behind them. Anushka Sharma co-starred in this movie portraying the role of a journalist, and together they delivered stunning performances making this an enjoyable journey. PK grossed about Rs. 340.80 crore giving it the title of one of the highest grosser Bollywood movies.
