The Indian film industry is one big, happy (well, that is debatable!) family. Hold on! We’re not referring to the Kapoors or the Khans of Bollywood. This time, we’re talking about actors in Telugu cinema who belong to the same clan. You’d be surprised to know how some of these stars are related to each other.
Hailing from the influential Daggubati family of Tollywood, Rana Daggubati grew up on film sets. His grandfather, D. Ramanaidu, was a renowned film producer. Rana’s father, Suresh Babu, is also a producer and the elder brother of superstar Venkatesh. Thus, Rana is Venkatesh’s nephew.
Touted as the next superstar of Telugu cinema, Akhil Akkineni was born with acting flowing in his blood. He is the second-born child of Nagarjuna – the ‘King of Tollywood’. Nagarjuna’s firstborn is Naga Chaitanya, from his former wife, Lakshmi. Chaitanya is therefore Akhil’s half-brother.
Both Ram Charan and Allu Arjun have established a huge fan base among Telugu cinephiles. However, not many people know that they have a common link – Surekha Konidala. Ram Charan is the son of megastar Chiranjeevi and Surekha Konidala. Surekha’s brother, Allu Aravind, is the father of Allu Arjun. This makes the two young actors, cousins.
Mahesh Babu, the heartthrob of Telugu cinema, has been wooing the audience since his childhood days. Being the son of a prominent actor-director-producer, acting came naturally to him. Mahesh has three sisters, one brother, and one step-brother. One of his sisters – Padmavathi – is married to Jayadev Galla, who is one of the wealthiest politicians in India.
These two contemporaries are related through none other than Chandrababu Naidu, former chief minister of Andhra Pradesh. Naidu is the paternal uncle of Nara Rohit. Naidu’s wife, Nara Bhuvaneshwari, is the paternal aunt of NT Rama Rao Jr. Though not directly related, it won’t be wrong to say that Nara Rohit and NT Rama Rao Jr. are distant cousins.
Yes, the two superstars were related – but not anymore! In the 1980s, Nagarjuna married Lakshmi Daggubati and had a son (Naga Chaitanya) with her. However, they got separated after a few years and went on to marry different people. Lakshmi and Venkatesh are siblings. Thus, Nagarjuna was Venkatesh’s brother-in-law at some point of time.
