In 2002, when the cases of polio peaked, Amitabh Bachchan and his powerful voice were chosen in the hopes of making an impact. He was made the brand ambassador of the Polio Eradication Campaign. The efforts worked and WHO certified India Polio free in 2014. In 2017, the actor was the goodwill ambassador for Hepatitis. In an interview, he said, “I am absolutely committed to the cause of Hepatitis. As a person living with Hepatitis-B, I know the pain and suffering that Hepatitis causes. No one should ever suffer from viral Hepatitis"
Dia Mirza is one of those celebs who has always raised her voice and worked towards the conservation of environment and wildlife and due to this, she was selected to be the UN Environment Goodwill Ambassador for India. She will work along with the UN to further spread awareness about climate change, wildlife protection, clean air, and clean oceans.
John Abraham has been supporting the cause of PETA for a long time now and has always been vocal about his love for animals. In 2013, the actor wrote a letter to the Minister for Environment and Forests, asking for a ban on the use of animals in circuses in India. He has also been associated with Habitat for Humanity and Save Our Tigers.
After having fought depression herself, Deepika set up The Live Laugh Love Foundation which works towards reducing stigma surrounding the issue of mental health and spreading awareness about it. The Home Ministry of India and Akshay Kumar recently joined hands to develop a web portal and an app called Bharat Ke Veer. People can use this app to donate and contribute to the families of the Central Armed Police Force and Central Para Military Forces. He has even started a martial arts school in Mumbai for women. The school gives women self-defense training for free and has trained more than 4000 women till now.

He has distributed Rs. 15,000 each to the widows of the farmers that committed suicide during the drought in Maharashtra.
