Celebrities around the world have time and again gone out of their way and stepped into somebody else’s shoes to learn and portray various characters for their films. Bollywood too has been a part of this, narrating admirable stories that have given us some great entertainment. Here’s a list of celebrities who went out of their way for their onscreen characters.
The first look of the movie Chhapaak is out and the internet is buzzing. This film apparently is the most challenging role of Deepika’s career as she said when she posted the poster on her Twitter handle. In the film, Deepika plays the role of the acid attack survivor, Laxmi Agarwal. For the role, with prosthetics help, Deepika totally resembles Laxmi. ‘It is tough but inspiring at the same time,’ says Deepika.
Priyanka Chopra left each one of us astounded with her acting journey and the type of challenging roles she has taken up. One such film was Barfi where she played the role of ‘Jhilmil’ and left us all dazed. She also won several awards and recognitions for the role.
Ranbir has been that one actor who has been amongst the people we look up to for their incredible work. Right from his debut till date, he has made sure he chooses a challenging role and works hard upon it to make it a super hit. Sanju was one of his films that gained a lot of speculation and made him the superstar of the generation. The film had Ranbir play the role of Sanjay Dutt across different stages of his life.
We’ve seen young actors take up assertive roles but a personality like Amitabh Bachchan playing the role of a 12-year old boy was something contrasting. Amitabh Bachchan in Paa played the character of a boy who is suffering from the genetic disorder called progeria. This disease has a person’s body grow old before their age. The crew spent almost 2 hours each day on Amitji’s makeup and we can see the result of the entire team’s hard work.
The King Khan of Bollywood is not left out. He took up various films that demanded an exclusive aspect. The films are ‘Fan’, ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’, and ‘Zero’. Each movie had a different version of him, engrossing the audience enough to think really hard, because with SRK there’s nothing usual and everything’s unique.
The Kapoor’s are known for their unique selection of roles and their amazing imitation onscreen. Rishi Kapoor for his film ‘Kapoor and Sons’ played the role of an oldie who was the constant supporter of his grandson played by Siddharth Malhotra and Fawad Khan. He is the definition of a cool grandfather.
Ranveer baba as they call him in Bollywood has been one stunning actor who has perplexed us each time he takes up a role. None of his films have ever failed to entertain us completely. His role in the film ‘Padmaavat’ was certainly the finest where he played the character of ‘Alauddin Khilji’. For this role, he did a lot of research and did everything possible to play the aggressively intrusive character that the film demanded. In one of his interviews he also mentioned that he was mentally not in a good state because of the negativity that the role demanded.
He won our hearts for the character ‘Sarbjit’ and we believe has is the only one who could experiment something like this. The film is based on a true character ‘Sarbjit’ who was captured by the Pakistani troops thinking this boy was an Indian spy. Randeep lost so much of weight for this role that he once fainted on the sets and had to be treated for that. Such dedication is rare but should be celebrated!
