2. Talaash (2012)

It is often someone who has experienced severe hardships in their own life that helps others heal through their pain. Talaash is the journey of one police officer – Aamir Khan whose life has turned completely post the death of his son. Immersing himself in his work while working on the case of a well-known actor, he is forced to confront certain truths about himself and life in general. The film also stars two of Bollywood leading actresses – Rani Mukherjee and Kareena Kapoor Khan – both of whom gave stellar performances making it a thrilling ride for the audience.

‘The con is on’ as the saying goes in this spectacular movie starring Bollywood veterans Akshay Kumar and Anupam Kher in lead roles. A great con movie is a treat to watch but when the con artists assume the identities of CBI agents and take on politicians dealing in black money – the thrill is greater. As the gap between actual CBI agents and the con artists become smaller, audiences are in for a thrilling ride where nothing is as it seems. The movie stars Manoj Bajpai and Jimmy Shergill in supporting roles making it an entertaining thriller.

4. Teesri Manzil (1966)

One of the most recommended Bollywood movies to watch, Teesri Manzil is an out and out entertainer with great music by RD Burman and classic Shammi Kappor dance moves. This movie seems like a light-hearted romance between the leads, Shammi Kapoor and Asha Parekh, but it is actually a thrilling murder mystery. Directed by the master Vijay Anand himself, this is a classic tale of revenge, cover-up and excellent frame jobs that don’t reveal the killer till the end.

5. Bluffmaster! (2005)

When it comes to Bollywood movies to watch, Bluffmaster! cannot be ignored. The title is quite self-explanatory and takes the audience on a journey of the well-known conman or bluffmaster Abhishek Bachchan. Having enjoyed relieving several people of their money, his life takes a dramatic turn when his truth is revealed to the love of his life – Priyanka Chopra who then breaks off their engagement. The road downhill doesn’t stop there with Bachchan diagnosed with a terminal illness causing him to go in for one last con with his mentee Riteish Deshmukh. 6. Gupt (1997)

A murder mystery, Gupt easily holds the title for one of the best thriller movies in Bollywood. Starring Bobby Deol, Kajol and Manisha Koirala, the movie tells a take of a man framed for the murder of his step-father. An intriguing storyline that keeps developing as the movie progresses has the audiences constantly trying to figure out who the real killer is. The relationship dynamics shown here are richly developed and lend a characteristic feel to the movie. The revelation of the actual killer in the end comes as a massive surprise and shock for most, making this one of Bollywood’s best thriller movies.

7. Khiladi (1992)

The movie that set Akshay Kumar on the path to fame and gave him the moniker ‘Khiladi’ – this movie is definitely on the must watch Bollywood movies list. It begins with a light-hearted prank when four college friends get together and plan a fake kidnapping for ransom. What follows is an unexpected tale of an actual kidnapping and even murder leaving the friends on the run from the police. Trying to find the actual killers while evading the cops results in one thrilling journey beautifully crafted by Abbas Mustan.

8. Ek Hasina Thi (2004)

The movie begins with the classic ‘girl meets boy and they fall in love’ angle but quickly takes a dark and sinister turn when the actress Urmila Matondkar is arrested and jailed for crimes relating to drugs and mafia connections. Her life undergoes a dramatic change and survival becomes the primary focus in jail. The story takes an interesting turn once she is released from prison becoming a woman on a rampage to make the people who framed her pay for what they did making it among the best Bollywood thriller movies.
