Behind the scenes

This ambitious project will be directed by Tha Tamilvaanan, who is also the writer of the film. He completed the pre-production work of Uyarntha Manithan in a year’s time. After working on the script for nearly one year, he patiently waited for Big B’s nod. It was an overwhelming experience for him when Amitabh finally accepted the role and said that he loved the script. Fun fact: A movie of the same title (Uyarntha Manithan) was released in 1968 with Sivaji Ganesan in the lead role. Amitabh is a great admirer of this celebrated actor of Tamil cinema.

The Rajinikanth connection

This is not the first time that Amitabh has been approached for a Tamil film. Not many people know that he was asked to play the antagonist in the Rajinikanth-starrer Robot.
Now, the announcement of Uyarntha Manithan was made by none other than superstar Rajinikanth. He launched the movie’s title in a video message where he also sent his best wishes to the team. The shooting for Uyarntha Manithan will begin in March 2019 and Amitabh will be devoting 35 days to shoot his part.
