Sushant Singh Rajput, the present day superstar was just another man, known as Manav Deshmukh, who was seen in Pavitra Rishta for a brief period before he entered Bollywood. Starting his Bollywood journey as a cricketer in Kai Po Che, Sushant also played the role of the cricket idol, MS Dhoni.
His journey so far is not a struggle Singh says, but full of events that make him what he is today! Let's check out his notable journey here:
Sushant Singh, the young boy from Patna, living in Delhi with a family full of Doctors and Lawyers, had an aspiration to become an Air Force Pilot one day. His parents wanted him to become an Engineer. Hence he landed at the Delhi College of Engineering.
“I remember tearing up my Top Gun poster when my parents told me Air Force Pilot was not going to happen”, Singh says.
Sushant is a huge SRK fan. He was only 12 when he watched DDLJ. After that film, he used to imagine himself as a part of the industry. SRK’s way of acting fascinated him, he says. In an interview, Sushant also commented, “Raj showed me it was cool to have a beer, but then he also waited for Simran’s dad’s approval. There was a balance”.
Sushant was an extreme introvert. In spite of being the head boy at school, he’d never come out and speak in public. He narrated one incident when he was asked to give a speech. He bunked school that day because he never liked the attention.
He was also selected and offered a scholarship with Stanford University. Leaving that, he chose to join Shiamak Davar’s dance academy and moved to Mumbai where he shared his one bedroom house with 6 mates. What a phase!
Taking a firm step in Bollywood’s direction, Sushant quit engineering in the final year and joined the Barry John Acting Studio. This step was the most difficult decision of his life. But he also believes that his deeds kept him going. This also helped him overcome his stage fright.
During this period, he also worked as a background dancer and practiced acting and also performed at various plays. It was when he signed Pavitra Rishta that he made his name and started getting impressive offers which he couldn’t deny.
Today, he is one of the greatest stars of Bollywood and has worked in the finest films like PK, Kai Po Che, and MS Dhoni: The Untold Story to name a few. His next, ‘Chhichhore’ will be the next blockbuster we believe!
