Born on 25th April 1987, Arijit Singh is an Indian playback singer now whose mother was a homemaker and father was a LIC Agent. Arijit had no direct connections to music but his aunt and uncle, as well as his grandmother, were into classical music. This sparked Arijit’s interest and he eventually started his career as a playback singer. Today, he is one of the most famous singers out there. Let’s dive into his journey in more detail!
As a kid, Arijit was decent at studies but was more interested in singing. Seeing his inclination towards music, his parents decided to train him to be a professional singer and that’s how he started learning Classical Music, Tabla and Pop Music from the Hazari brothers at the tender age of 3 years.
Arijit Singh earned a scholarship from the Indian government for training in Indian classical vocals when he was just 9 years old. He then decided to participate in a famous TV reality show in 2005. His mentor, Rajendra Prasad Hajari, motivated him to go for it. Despite being a judge favorite, due to low public votes, he got eliminated from the show at the 6th position.
Post that, Arijit won a famous TV singing reality show. Later he decided to establish his own recording studio and started composing music. He received several opportunities to assist his favorite music directors like Shankar- Ehsaan- Loy, Pritam Chakraborty, Vishal- Shekhar and many more. Arijit Singh’s debut song in Bollywood was “Aaja Nachle” from the Disney film High School Musical 2 that was composed by Shankar Ehsan Loy in 2007.
Apart from being a fabulous singer, Arijit Singh is also an amazing Badminton player, a writer, a movie freak, and documentary film-maker. He also likes to read Bengali novels, enjoys photography and cycling in his free time.
Arijit Singh is a very shy person. He never clicks selfies and avoids the limelight. Despite being a notable singer, he is also a very humble and small-town boy by heart. To promote this, he has also started an NGO called “Let There Be Light” in Jiaganj, West Bengal that focuses on the needs of the economically backward and organizes activities like blood donation camps, distribution of clothes, books and stationery.
Arijit Singh has also directed and written a few Bengali films like “Bhalobashar Rojnamcha” in 2015 and “Sa” in 2018. Interestingly, his son Jul also acted in “Sa”. Arijit Singh’s Favourite hindi track is “Phir Le Aaya Dil” from the film “Barfi” (2012).
Shahrukh Khan initially wanted Atif Aslam to sing “Gerua” for the film “Dilwale” (2015). Since Atif was stuck with other projects during that time, Arijit was given the project and the song became a big hit.
Arijit is a big foodie who likes to eat "Machher Jhol", a traditional Bengali fish curry with rice and other dishes prepared by his mom. In sweets, he likes to eat "Mishti Doi“.
