Anjali CBI (2018) is a treat for lovers of the crime thriller genre. Racy and taut, it pits one of South India's most popular actress Nayanthara opposite Bollywood's ace director, Anurag Kashyap. We know about the abilities of Nayanthara, but Anurag, the actor, is a revelation. He's fiendish, evil and menacing!
The cat-and-mouse game between the cop and the psychopath makes for riveting stuff. The many twists keep you glued to the screen. Hiphop Tamizha's haunting background score elevates the movie's spine-chilling quotient.
Anjali CBI is the Telugu-dubbed version of the Tamil film Imaikkaa Nodigal (2018). R Ajay Gnanamuthu, a former assistant to director A R Murugadoss of Ghajini (2005) and Thuppakki (2012) fame, helmed the movie. His trademark dark story-telling style was evident in his first film Demonte Colony (2015). He's reasserted his abilities with Imaikkaa Nodigal.
