It is a great honour to grab a spot in the Guinness Book Of World Records. Since its inception in 1955, this honorary title has been awarded to many individuals, organisations and creations. The Guinness Book Of World Records is now in its 66th year of publication, published in 100 countries and 23 languages and maintains over 53,000 records in its database.
Like many other countries, India too has been a frequent awardee of the title and holds many Guinness Book Of World Records under its belt. Below-mentioned is a list of Indian movies and celebrities who hold the Guinness World Record-
Sameer Anjaan - 2016
Sameer Anjaan is a well-known lyricist in the Bollywood movie industry. He started his career back in 1983 and has continued to weave magic with words till today. Sameer Anjaan holds the world record for writing 3524 songs as of 2015. Bollywood’s Guinness World Record holder Sameer Anjaan has written many award-winning songs over the years such as Nazar Ke Samne from Aashiqui (1990), Teri Umeed Tera Intezaar from Deewana (1992), Ghunghat Ki Aad Se from Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke (1993), Kuch Kuch Hota Hai from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998).
Baahubali: The Beginning - 2015
Directed by S.S. Rajamouli, Baahubali: The Beginning is a movie that impressed the audiences far and wide. Not only in India, it also became a sensational hit all over the world. Owing to the breathtaking success of Baahubali: The Beginning, Kochi's Global United Media Company made a 50,000 square fit poster of the movie. Due to this, the movie found its way to the Guinness Book Of World Records and became a world record movie in India.
PK - 2014
Rajkumar Hirani’s PK movie earned around Rs 792 crore at the box office and became a blockbuster hit. Not only in India, but it was also the first Indian movie to become the highest-grossing in any other country outside India. Due to this, PK movie was recorded in the Guinness Book Of World Records and became a world record movie in India.
Asha Bhosle - 2011
The talented and celebrated Indian singer Asha Bhosle has had her name in the Guinness Book Of World Records since 2011. Bollywood’s Guinness World Record holder etched her name in history for the most recorded artist in the music industry. Asha Bhosle has recorded more than 11,000 songs in 20 different Indian languages since the beginning of her career in 1947.

The Indian movie industry is the largest in the world with movies being produced in 24 languages. About 800 to 1000 Indian movies are released every year, more than many other movie industries in the world. In the year 2008, the Indian movie industry produced 1,288 movies in 24 languages, while Hollywood had a record of 606 movies.
Kaho Naa...Pyaar Hai - 2002
The movie ‘Kaho Na Pyaar Hai’ starring the then newcomers Ameesha Patel and Hrithik Roshan was a blockbuster. The movie won many awards at numerous award functions such as Filmfare, Star Screen Award, Bollywood Movie Awards, Zee Cine Award, IIFA Award and Channel V. In total, ‘Kaho Na Pyaar Hai’ won 102 awards, the most than any other movie and earned a place in the Guinness Book Of World Records for the same, becoming a world record movie in India.
Kapoor Family - 1999
The Bollywood journey that started in 1929 with Prithviraj Kapoor has been a long one. After the head of the Kapoor family, his sons Raj Kapoor, Shammi Kapoor, and Shashi Kapoor followed suit. Ranbir Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan are the youngest of Kapoors to appear on the silver screen. Since 1929, 24 members of the Kapoor family have been a part of Bollywood. The 90s singing buzzing singer, Kumar Sanu is a Bollywood Guinness World Record holder! He once recorded 28 songs on a single day, the first-ever singer to do so and etched his name in the Guinness Book Of World Records for most recorded songs in a day.
Yaadein - 1964
Yaadein was produced and directed by Sunil Dutt. He was also the hero and apart from him, the movie had Nargis Dutt as the second actor, who appeared as a silhouette towards the end. Yaadein was a unique and one-of-a-kind movie. It holds the Guinness World Record in the category of Fewest actors in a narrative movie and became a world record movie in India.
Actor Jagdish Raj can be officially called the ‘Police Inspector Of Bollywood’. The actor played the role of a police inspector in 144 movies. Jagdish Raj became Bollywood’s Guinness World Record holder for being the most type-cast actor in the history of cinema. Some of his most popular movies as a police inspector include Waqt (1965), Hamraaz (1967), Jheel Ke Us Paar (1973), Don (1978), Anjaam (1978), etc.

Lalita Pawar started her movie career at the early age of 12 and acted in around 700 movies. She had a long-standing career of 70 years in Bollywood. Lalita Pawar holds the Guinness Book Of World Records for having the longest movie career as an actress.
