Mahabharat - 1988

The second oldest Indian mythology serial Mahabharat was created by the famous B.R. Chopra. Mahabharat TV serial also saw the same popularity as Ramayan with empty streets and closed shops during its telecast. The whole cast of the serial was phenomenal with special mention to Roopa Ganguly, Firoz Khan and Gufi Paintal for their flawless portrayal of Devi Draupadi, Lord Arjun and Mama Shakuni respectively. It is one of the oldest and best Indian mythological TV shows to be broadcasted overseas. The narrator ‘Samay’ of the Mahabharat TV serial was voiced by the famous voice-artist Harish Bhimani. The spin-off series, Mahabharat Katha II, contained the left-over parts of the Mahabharat TV serial. The series was reaired during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown on DD Bharati and became the second-highest viewed TV show in the world after Ramayan.

Shri Krishna - 1993

Created by the popular Ramanand Sagar, the Shri Krishna serial, is one of the best mythology TV shows. It narrates the life story of Lord Shri Krishna and is based on the popular texts of  Bhagavata Purana, Brahma Vaivarta Purana, Harivamsa, Vishnu Purana, Padma Purana, Garga Samhita, Bhagavad Gita and Mahabharat. Prominent Marathi actor Swwapnil Joshi played the role of young Lord Krishna in the Shri Krishna serial. Vishnu Puran - 2000

One of the oldest and best Indian mythological TV shows, the Vishnu Puran serial, was created by the well-known B.R. Chopra and Ravi Chopra. The mythological series narrates the story of 10 incarnations of Lord Vishnu and other notable stories, like that of devotee Dhruva. The major roles of Lord Vishnu and Devi Lakshmi were played by Nitish Bharadwaj and Vaidehi Amrute respectively. The title track of the Vishnu Puran serial was sung by the famous Shankar Mahadevan and the decoding summary of each episode was sung by Mahendra Kapoor.  It is one of the best mythological series that ruled every household in the early 2000s.
