The highly awaited 90th Academy Awards finally came and how! Amidst the amazing thank you speeches, awe-inspiring monologues, the winners were the stars of the night. Take a look at how they made their way to glory and held the iconic golden statue.

1. From playing a cop as Jim Gordon in The Dark Knight, to a wanted criminal Sirius Black in the Harry Porter series, Gary Oldman has given really noteworthy performances. Landing the Oscar for Best Actor this year, Gary Oldman gave one of his finest performances in The Darkest Hour. But did you know that he smoked cigars worth £30,000 and had a bad stomach for 3 months to play Winston Churchill perfectly?!

2. Frances McDormand won the Best Actress Oscar for her performance in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. You wouldn’t believe that McDormand resisted films for a year and thought she was too old for playing her role! But fans have been pouring their love for her performance across all social networking sites and now look up to her as a powerful actor.

3. With its super accurate animation and heartfelt storyline, one of the most anticipated animated film of the year Coco, won Best Animated Feature Oscar and Best Original Song Oscar. Every bit of music in the film was authentic and the animation often used paintings done by animators who even videotaped musicians to give the characters of the movie authentic movements.

4. A fantasy blockbuster, The Shape of Water directed by Guillermo Del Toro won the Oscar for Best Picture. Working for a period of 2 years before pitching the movie, Del Toro put in his everything in developing the visuals of the movie, including $100,000 of his own money! And seeing the reviews and the Oscar, we can definitely say that all the efforts of Del Toro and his crew were worth it.
