A healthy mind and body is essential to efficiently deal with weighty matters. There are some world leaders who lead by example. Amidst running their countries, these leaders always find time for a run. Their commitment to wellbeing is an example for us all. Let’s take a look at some ‘fitness freak’ leaders.

1. Vladimir Putin
An active judoka, Putin is a master of martial arts. Swimming and weight lifting are integral to his fitness regime. He also pursues horse riding, skiing, badminton, hockey, cycling and fishing. Putin enjoys trying different cuisines as much as he enjoys outdoor sports. Usually, though, he prefers salads and fish to keep him full. Putin aims to make health a priority in Russia.

2. Justin Trudeau
Trudeau’s love for yoga takes his fitness a notch higher. This former bungee jump coach and snowboarding instructor is a true sports enthusiast. He has trained in boxing for many years. He often indulges in kayaking and white-water rafting. Unlike most of his countrymen, Canada’s liberal prime minister stays away from coffee.

3. Barack Obama
When it comes to staying fit, Barack Obama trumps it. Both Barack and Michelle follow a simple diet and regularly work out. A balanced breakfast is an essential part of their routine. Even during his busiest days at the White House, Barack found time to exercise. His healthy food habits include minimal consumption of sugar and alcohol. The Obamas have certainly brought health consciousness to the most obese country.

4. Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck
The current King of Bhutan is an avid basketball player. The young king and queen play basketball regularly and are trying to make it a national sport. King Wangchuck is also a strong believer in meditation for mental peace. He takes healthcare and happiness very seriously, and aims to promote fitness in his kingdom. This may be another reason that Bhutan is the world’s happiest nation!

5. Benjamin Netanyahu
The prime minister of Israel takes fitness as seriously as worldly affairs. He leads a disciplined lifestyle by maintaining a balanced diet. Netanyahu munches only on healthy snacks, even during meetings. He jogs and walks a lot. He has made healthy lifestyle a part of his cabinet’s duties, thus increasing his ministers’ health consciousness. At 66, Netanyahu is certainly making ‘staying fit’ trendy!

6. Narendra Modi
The energetic prime minister has sparked a movement towards fitness in India. Modi practices yoga every morning for his mental and physical health. Modi follows a simple vegetarian diet and also observes occasional fasts. His earnest actions to promote sports is driving Indians towards fitness.
