From Badminton to Bollywood: Deepika Padukone’s extraordinary journey
Talking about Bollywood, Deepika Padukone is one of the most glamourous actors of B-town. The girl with bright expressive eyes is the daughter of the famous former Badminton player, Prakash Padukone. Started from playing the sport to now being one of the greatest actors of Bollywood is an incredible achievement that Deepika has acquired. Let’s have a look at her journey.
1. The Badminton champ
Father being the International Badminton player and grandfather, the secretary of the Mysore Badminton Association, Deepika has grown up playing Badminton with her family right from childhood. Deepika played the sport throughout her school years and also in national level championships.

2. The little close-up girl
Deepika, at the age of 8 appeared in a couple of ads and later was a part of ads like Close-up and Liril.

3. The supermodel Deepika
Deepika debuted as the runway model at Lakme Fashion Week and was later awarded as the ‘Model of the year’ at ‘Kingfisher Fashion Awards’. She was also a part of Himesh Reshammiya’s music album.

4. The first break
Deepika got her first break in a Kannada film “Aishwarya”, directed by Indrajit Lankesh. The film became a commercial success.

5. Starting the Bollywood journey
Farah Khan who had seen Deepika in Himesh Reshammiya’s music video was highly impressed by her and decided to cast her in one of her films. Om Shanti Om became her first Hindi film opposite the King of Bollywood and was a huge success.

6. The best actress of all times
After doing several not-so-big films like Bachna Ae Haseeno and Chandni Chowk To China , Deepika established her career with ‘Cocktail’ and later with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Goliyon Ki Raasleela: Ram Leela’ and ‘Bajirao Mastani’. Cocktail marked a significant turning point in Deepika’s career. She was also awarded as The Best Actress in Filmfare Awards twice for her roles.

7. Supporting social causes
Along with her symbolic roles that she chooses, Deepika also supports a few social causes. She was a part of a video that spoke about depression, and was the 1st actor to ever talk about the topic so openly. In addition to all these, she also has written a few opinion columns and has established her own clothing brand known as ‘All About You’.

8. Hollywood entry
Who can stop her now? Being one of the top actors of the industry, Deepika tried her luck with Hollywood too and became a success there as well. She played a magnificent role in the film ‘xXx: Return of Xander Cage’ opposite Vin Diesel. She was the lead female of Serena Unger in this film.
